Last year we were pleased to announce the creation of the R. Phillip Haire Honored Educator Scholarship (HES) at NCCAT. When fully endowed at $25,000, the R. Phillip Haire Honored Educator Scholarship will provide for a North Carolina public school teacher each year to attend an NCCAT professional development program of choice. NCCAT is proud to announce a sponsored Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Gifts program for all donations to the R. Phillip Haire Honored Educator Scholarship.
Rep. Haire served North Carolina in many ways – as a Captain in the US Air Force, Vice Chairman of the NC Bar Association Board of Governors, Chairman of the Senior Lawyers Division and Chairman of NC State Bar District Presidents. His dedication to education is evidenced by his 12 year service on the UNC Board of Governors and on the Board of Trustees of Western Carolina University. His most recent service to the people of western North Carolina was his election as a member of the House of Representatives in the General Assembly where he served 14 years.
