Hour of Code returns to give every student in every school the opportunity to learn computer programming

Last year NCCAT took part in the "Hour of Code" effort. "The Hour of Code" is an opportunity for every student to try computer science for one hour.

The Hour of Code will take place Dec. 8-14. You can find out more about this effort at code.org. As the website says, "The Hour of Code" is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 30 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104."

Last year as part of the "Hour of Code” the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), in partnership with Western Carolina University, Southwestern Community College, and the public schools of Jackson County in western N.C., hosted a series of events to promote literacy in coding. Click here for more on those efforts.

We hope you will visit code.org for more information on how to take part in this important opportunity.
