Learning in the 21st Century

Welcome, this week we will be posting daily blog entries from work done by teachers at one of our recent technology seminars led by instructional technology consultant Glenn Gurley, Jr.

Teachers were introduced to a variety of 21st century learning environments and strategies for providing students with effective instruction that leads to student learning using available classroom technology.

On the first day teachers participated in a Who, What, Why, When, Where, and How activity where they formed small groups to discuss 21st century learning. Members assumed team roles and used Note Anytime on their mobile devices during the discussions to take notes and create visual representations to share with the entire group. Erin Walle from North Iredell Middle, Erica Williard from JN Fries Magnet, and Mike Trump from Northwest Cabarrus Middle School discussed the “How” – How should a 21st century classroom look?

Teams shared topics discussed in small groups with everyone while their notes slides were projected for all to view.

In another session all teams collaborated as they edited the same Google Doc – “BYOD Resources Table” to share apps and Web 2.0 tools they have found effective.

Share about your experience with 21st century learning environments that you have found effective for use with your students. Also hope you will join us tomorrow for Social Networking.
