A Message from NCCAT Executive Director Richard Thompson

Responding to a request from North Carolina educators we were pleased to host EdCamp WNC on Nov. 15 in Cullowhee. It’s exciting for me as a life-long educator when I think about the 54 teachers and administrators who took part of their weekend after long hours during the week, to explore how to use digital learning to improve education for the children of our state.

EdCamp is teacher-directed professional development designed to meet their needs. These North Carolina educators came together at NCCAT to share and learn state-of-the-art educational practices to take back to the classroom. We're happy to have been part of this new type of professional development.

At NCCAT, we work to give teachers the tools they need in an environment that helps them succeed and connect with other teachers. We’re constantly innovating, creating and remixing for powerful experiences and outcomes with new additions such as EdCamp and our “NCCAT Online” offerings. We remain committed to our core values of treating teachers as professionals, while offering high-quality professional development in a respectful setting that promotes collaboration.

Our Spring registration is open, and I hope you will be able to join us for an event on one of our campuses, either in Ocracoke or Cullowhee. Through residential face-to-face programs at NCCAT or in schools, we provide educators with tools for success.

Your feedback matters. It's how we know we're making your NCCAT experience the best it can be. Please let us know what's working, or if there's anything we could be doing better.

Thanks again for your support and interest in NCCAT. We're excited about the possibilities that are the results of working together on behalf of the children of North Carolina.
