Did You Know? Statistics That Make a Difference
NCCAT conducts interdisciplinary, content-specific seminars for pre-K through 12th grade teachers in the environmental and biological sciences, technology, humanities, arts, communication, and health—strengthening teachers and teaching and helping to keep them in the profession.
NCCAT models best practices for application to the classroom. 99.2% of teachers said attending the seminar provided them with valuable knowledge and skills; 97.6% said that the NCCAT experience would aid in their efforts to increase student achievement.
Seventy-five percent (75%) of teachers who have come to NCCAT in the last 5 years have been teaching for 20 years or less. Almost half have been teaching for 10 years or less. Twenty-six percent (26%) have less than 5 years experience; 21% have 6-10 years of experience; 15% have 11-15 years of experience; and 12% have 16-20 years of experience.
NCCAT reports a 96.9% average annual retention rate as compared to 87.9% statewide and 83.2% nationally for participants attending from 2004–2007.
NCCAT also provides programs for National Board candidates and beginning teachers.
NCCAT maintains one infrastructure for both campuses—all administrative, registration, finance, human resources, and other necessary operations-related services are based at the Cullowhee campus.
