The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching is recruiting for an Executive Assistant for its Cullowhee Center. This position is a full-time permanent position through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

The Administration unit has responsibility for the administrative and operational oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Center. Executive level decisions are made within this unit and include but are not limited to the following: decisions to establish and implement new policies as required by federal, state, or board requirements; and interpreting, administering, and communicating existing policies.

This unit also has oversight of the Human Resources function, finance and budget management, and all other operational units that may require executive level decisions. This position provides executive level support to the Executive Director (ED) and Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and provides HR administrative support on behalf of the Executive Director or Designee.

A key purpose is that of managing and performing on-going and effective communications with key constituents, including the public, the Department of Public Instruction and other North Carolina agencies and entities, school districts and their respective administrators, public school teachers, legislative leaders and liaisons, Board members, and NCCAT staff.

This position will require some travel for Board of Trustee Meetings when schedule at the North Carolina Center Ocracoke, NC and other sites in the state.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
