NCCAT at CULLOWHEE Seeks Permanent Full-Time Program Associate ***THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN CULLOWHEE, NORTH CAROLINA***

Salary Grade: GN06, Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $37,850 MAX SALARY FOR THIS POSITION IS $37,850 The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist I (Working Title: Program Associate) for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT).

NCCAT was founded in 1985 with a mission to advance teaching as an art and a profession and is dedicated to serving pre-K through 12th grade North Carolina public school teachers in enhancing the learning of the children of North Carolina. The goal of NCCAT is to support teachers to positively impact the quality of public education in North Carolina. The Center's primary purpose is to provide high quality professional learning through residential, regional, school-based, and online programming. Program content is based on current needs of teachers and state initiatives.

This position is responsible for serving as an initial contact person for the public, both in person and by phone or web-based platforms and serves as liaison for program components, as well as establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with faculty in program development. This position assists in the development and monitoring of program databases, budgets, schedules and reports. This role also procures program resources, services and supplies from local, regional, and national vendors. A typical work week will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though some evening and weekend work will be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION THAT CLEARLY REFLECTS WORK EXPERIENCE DEMONSTRATING THE FOLLOWING: General knowledge of office management techniques and strong customer service skills Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and possess excellent human relations skills Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships through effective oral and written communications Ability to resolve problems and questions in accordance with procedural guidelines Demonstrated ability in coordinating activities and organizing work flow Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask Ability to analyze and solve logistical problems and exercise independent judgment Ability to interpret and apply state rules and regulations. Demonstrated computer skills and experience utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work well in a team Ability to anticipate teacher and program needs and assist accordingly Ability to speak to large groups of people

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES: Management prefers candidates who have earned a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or those who have experience in teaching, training, administrative management, event planning and/ or public relations. Familiarity with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction policies and procedures is desired in a most qualified candidate. A successful candidate must exhibit a value for education and the public-school system and have a sense of humor. Please attach a cover letter and resume to your completed application. NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS: Valid NC Driver's License. Out of State Applicants must have valid Driver's License and acquire NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire. Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain upon employment, certification in First Aid, CPR and AED certification. ***For current State employees, please note that as of June 1, 2018, promotional and RIF priority and salary administration will be made based on the new Statewide NC Classification System. *** Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
