WCU & NCCAT work together for beginning teachers

We are very thankful to work with our friends across the street at Western Carolina University! As the story in the link below highlights ...

$45,000 went to Laura Cruz, Coulter Faculty Commons, for development of a series of training modules to help new teachers. Funded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation via the N.C. Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

Work of NCCAT alumna featured in O Magazine

NCCAT alumna Darcy Grimes has some of her work featured in the September issue of O Magazine. Darcy, a fourth-grade teacher at Claxton Elementary School in Asheville,  and her students created a "Buddy Bench." The bench has the words "Just Say Hello" and is on the playground. The idea was to help students not feel alone or left out. The story is on Page 22. Congrats to Darcy and her class for this great work!

Teachers give high marks to NCCAT digital program

At NCCAT we always appreciate feedback on our programs. We were happy to see so many positive responses to “Strategies for Teaching and Learning in a Digital Environment” led by presenter Glenn Gurley in July. All 24 participants said they strongly agreed that the program provided valuable knowledge and skills.

Start new year with new tools from Edmodo

NCCAT has always used Edmodo tools with great success. We've seen Edmodo really help with teacher collaboration. As the new school year starts it is exciting to see new tools from Edmodo, often called the Facebook of Teachers.
