Durham teacher talks about time at NCCAT

We appreciate Kimberly Perry-Sanderlin of Durham Public Schools attending NCCAT multiple times. She recently took time to tell us about what she finds valuable about the NCCAT experience. Kimberly received the Belk Foundation NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship during one of her visits.

Principal of the Year tips for this school year

Jason Griffin is the Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year for 2017. Griffin joined the faculty at Hertford Grammar in 2011 as a third-grade teacher and served as dean of students before being named principal. We are honored to have Griffin present earlier this year at Ocracoke. published an article from Griffin today with advice to principals for this year.

Middle Grades ELA: Teaching Beyond the EOG at NCCAT

These teachers have joined us for "Middle Grades ELA: Teaching Beyond the EOG" to examine the knowledge and skills necessary to help students transition successfully from elementary to high school. Teachers will engage in and then craft their own language arts activities that engage both the child and the budding adult in each of their students. Activities will address reading, writing, thinking, speaking and listening skills.
