Best Practices for Motivating Young Readers wtih NCCAT

Our program, BEST PRACTICES FOR MOTIVATING YOUNG READERS in Ocracoke, provided teachers from across the state an opportunity to expand their literacy tool kit with strategies for motivating young reluctant readers. In the program, teachers explored three powerful motivations that drive student reading: (1) interest, (2) dedication, and (3) confidence.

An interested student reads because they enjoy it; a dedicated student reads because they believe it is important, and a confident student reads because they can do it. With this as the fundamental background, the participants examined dozens of classroom-ready tips to get young readers interested and excited about reading.

Thank you to these teachers for being with us. See you again soon we hope!
