Durham, Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Burke County teams at NCCAT

We are happy to have these team members at NCCAT for Research and Development Teams programs.

- Lucas Middle School, Durham Public School - Project Z: This team will work on a project to bridge the divide for students without home computers or internet access by providing filtered home Internet and a Chromebook for instructional use at home and at school. They will identify metrics for evaluating the expansion of Chromebooks, research community and non-profit partners as well as funding options, create Website framework, and work on developing a plan for expanding the program to other schools.

- Mary Scroggs, McDougle and Morris Grove Elementary Schools, Chapel Hill - Understanding by Design: Kindergarten Math Curriculum Planning: This team of Math and Science Specialists will work on revising their current curriculum planning and instructional guides using the Understanding by Design model. They will revise all of the units for the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the school year including designing pre/post assessments, math exploration, and number talks.

- Oak Hill Elementary, Burke County Schools: Research and Development of Literacy Resource Kits Composed of Best Practice Strategies: This team will develop resource kits to be utilized by teachers in the classroom for research based reading interventions. These kits will contain folders of materials immediately usable by teachers and students specifically targeting the Five Essential Components of Reading.
