The North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair is presenting summer workshops entitled “How to Guide Student STEM Research.” Here is more about the program:
Attention: Grades 3-12 Teachers & Administrators
Plan to attend a 1-day Student Research & Science Fair Workshop.
There is a $15 registration fee, but all attendees receive a $65 stipend for participation.
Participants will be asked to guide their students in conducting STEM research and shown how to implement a science and engineering fair for a class, grade-level or school during the 2018-2019 academic year.
All participants will be asked to complete a survey in spring 2019.

June 25 – Appalachian State University Boone
June 26 – Western Carolina University Cullowhee
July 18 – UNC-Pembroke Pembroke
Aug. 7 - East Carolina University Greenville
Aug. 8 - Meredith College Raleigh
The workshop will have two sections; one for 3rd-5th grade teachers and one for those who teach grades 6-12. (All workshops run from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm.)
The following topics will be discussed during the workshop:
How to foster and guide STEM investigations in the classroom.
How to initiate, manage, and evaluate student science and engineering research projects.
Planning a classroom, school or district science & engineering fair.
All materials will be supplied; 0.6 – 1.0 CEUs possible for completion of the workshop;
