Congratulations to Rae-Ann Daughtry of Martin County!

Teacher Rae-Ann Daughtry received the Eugene and Jean Rogers Honored Educator Scholarship this week.

Rae-Ann is the Martin County Teacher of the Year for 2014-15 from South Creek High School. Click here for more on Rae-Ann.

Rae-Ann attended "Flipping Instruction Without Flipping Out: A Digital Learning Special Topic" in Ocracoke. “Flipping” instruction is a method of shifting lecture and explanation to a controlled video or mixed-media format so that time in class can be spent most productively. When done properly, flipping can be of great benefit to teachers and students by allowing for more finely attuned differentiation and more class time for one-on-one instruction and meaningful learning experiences. With help from working teachers and educational technologists, this course provided the tools and confidence to approach flipping a classroom in ways that are meaningful and engaging for your students and that give you new tools for assessment and interaction.

The scholarship is made possible by Eugene and Jean Rogers. Representative Eugene and Mrs. Rogers have served in numerous educational systems and leadership roles throughout the state of North Carolina. Elected in 1987, Eugene Rogers served as a State Representative for fifteen years representing the 6th district, as well as served as superintendent of Martin County Schools for twenty years. In addition, he was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Development Foundation of NCCAT. Jean Rogers was a well-known and respected school psychologist for twenty seven years and a patron of the Effie Sparrow Collection, part of the Women Veterans Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. We appreciate the Rogers family support of NCCAT and North Carolina teachers. Click here to learn more about the Honored Educator Scholarship program at NCCAT.
