Enjoyed reading about the efforts of NCCAT alum Jeff Vamvakias down the road from us in Cullowhee at Cullowhee Valley School in Education NC. Happy we were able to host some of the work Jeff did with NC New Teacher Support Program and that he has taken part in our programs - Jackson County Connections and Science EdCamp.
Vamvakias, pictured on the left in the photo next to this blog, was one of several beginning teachers from Jackson County Schools who attended a weekend program called "Jackson County Connections" on the unique challenges of working with students who live in generational poverty, defined as at least three consectuvie generations at or below the poverty line.
