Lexington City, Wake County, Rockingham County and Henderson County schools take part in NCCAT program

We had some great groups with us for Solution and Planning Teams programs last weekend in Cullowhee. Below is a list of some of what they did.

Charles England Elementary, Lexington City Schools - GEAR: Get Excited about Reading: This team developed a comprehensive reading plan that will be fully implemented during the 2016-2017 school year. It will include a master schedule, explicit instruction strategies, and professional development around skill sets needed to teach reading.

Knightdale High School, Wake County - Knightdale High School Collaborative Design: Aligning First Year Data to School Redesign Plan and Strategies: This team reviewed data and structures to create an aligned focus for the 2016-2017 school year. Their goal is to create an aligned PD plan, on-boarding plan for new staff, and structures for improved pedagogy as they transition to a project-based learning model of instruction.

J.E. Holmes Middle School, Rockingham County - Improving Literacy by Integrating Fiction and Nonfiction Texts with Social Studies: This team will create engaging, kinesthetic activities to help students organzie and retain information. They hope to increase student literacy across the curriculum by tying in social studies, nonfiction texts and novels and short stories.

Rugby Middle School, Henderson County - Project-Based Learning in a Digital World: This team worked on developing a project-based learning unit for each quarter. Their goal is for each unit to be student driven, hands on, incorporate technology to enhance student learning, and develop 21st Century skills.
