Stipend

A stipend of $2,700.00 will be awarded to offset the costs of this three-week institute. The stipend will be distributed according to the following schedule: Upon arrival each NEH Scholar will be given a check for half of the stipend amount; the remaining half will be provided on the last day of the Institute. Housing, if on the WCU campus, along with the cost of the hotel in Murphy, NC, as well as Institute related meals, and other fees will be deducted from the stipend. The experience of many previous NEH Institute directors suggests that this solves many concerns in advance.

Credit

At the completion of the Institute, NEH scholars will be provided a letter from the director verifying their successful participation in 120 hours of academic study. This letter may be submitted to local school district administrators to request credit for continuing education.
