Meaningful Math Professional Learning with NCCAT

Are you looking for relevant math professional learning this summer? If so, join NCCAT to engage in meaningful learning while collaborating with colleagues from across NC. Whether joining virtually or in-person this summer, we have programs to fit your learning needs.

NCCAT's instructional programs reflect the broad range of unique professional development topics for public school teachers and other educators. Challenging formats, combined with professional learning communities, shape the NCCAT offerings. All programs incorporate relevant state standards. Seminar faculty model best practices for application to the 21st century classroom.

July 13-16: Creating Math Communities and Connecting Learners- Cullowhee

We know math classrooms should be places where all students are empowered to think as mathematicians, so how do we create these communities for students in our care? Join NCCAT to learn innovative strategies that build classroom cultures of active care and engage students in mathematics thinking. This 4-day program will focus on building classroom cultures and problem-solving.

July 27-28: Math Collaborative- Virtual

Join NCCAT for this two day virtual event to learn new instructional strategies and engage in round table sessions. Sessions will be presented to strengthen your math instructional toolbox including: Differentiation, English Language Learners strategies, problem-solving routines, digital learning, problem-based learning, and reading in the math classroom. Leave ready to kick off the 2021-2022 school year with fresh ideas for your math classroom. A variety of sessions will be offered throughout the collaborative for elementary and secondary math classrooms.

August 3: Planning Math Instruction to Reach All Learners- Virtual (10:00-11:30 am) 

Focusing on acceleration to grade-level learning is critical while planning for math instruction. How do we focus on students’ needs and plan lessons that provide access to grade-level concepts? Join this virtual session to learn a planning protocol for re-engaging students in prior learning for success with grade-level concepts. This program is for math teachers in grades 3-8. 

August 13: K-5 Engaging in Vertical Alignment for “Just in Time” Learning- Cullowhee

This one day session will explore research-based guidance for moving forward in math and reading instruction and engage in vertical alignment with colleagues from across NC. There will be opportunities to delve into the NC Math and Language Arts Standards, discuss priority content, and vertically align with colleagues in collaborative grade-span groups.
