About Rethink Education Program

Rethink Education, formerly referred to as LIGHT THE WAY, is a new state-wide effort to strengthen remote learning across North Carolina’s K-12 schools. The initiative is fully funded by a US Department of Education grant in response to COVID-19.

The program is specifically aligned to support K-8 learning and access to excellent instruction. Additionally, targeted support is available for the 45 most economically distressed and rural counties. The training portion of this program is open to all N.C. districts, through a cohort model.

Enrollment in Cohort 1 has closed.  For more information about Cohort 2, please visit and visit the Rethink Education Resources for Districts and Schools section.
