Collaboration at the Core: WNC Elementary STEM/Science Community of Practice PD Day at NCCAT

CULLOWHEE - Educators from across Western North Carolina came together on June 13th at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) in Cullowhee for a powerful day of professional development, collaboration, and innovation in elementary STEM and science education.

Nearly 70 educators participated in the WNC Elementary STEM/Science Community of Practice PD Day, a dynamic event focused on exploring what excellent collaboration in elementary science and STEM can look like. The day featured breakout sessions, engaging presentations, and hands-on discussions designed to spark ideas and build lasting connections among participants.

The event was organized by the WNC Elementary STEM/Science Community of Practice and generously sponsored by the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University.

Session topics included:

  • Integrated Science & Literacy
  • Using AI to Support Manageable Project-Based Learning
  • And many more strategies for improving STEM instruction and collaboration in elementary classrooms.

NCCAT was honored to serve as the host site for such a meaningful day of learning and connection.
