Looking for professional development? NCCAT has programs with openings available now. NCCAT provides North Carolina teachers with new knowledge, skills, teaching methods, best prarctices and information to take back to their classroom.

NCCAT's instructional programs reflect the broad range of unique professional development topics for public school teachers and other educators. Challenging formats, combined with professional learning communities, shape the NCCAT offerings. All programs incorporate relevant state standards. Seminar faculty model best practices for application to the 21st century classroom.

The Physical Active Academic Classroom in Cullowhee on May 24-27

A wealth of research supports the hypothesis that physical activity can boost comprehension, retention, and self-regulation in students of all achievement levels. Teachers who build movement into their lesson designs will have students who are less disruptive and more engaged. Teachers will learn a variety of strategies for integrating instruction with physical activity, but not at the expense of intellectual rigor. Armed with a collection of techniques you can use immediately, design and create your own physically and mentally active lessons.
 
 
 

Family and Consumer Sciences Counseling and Mental Health in Ocracoke on May 24-28

Develop an understanding for the critical science approach in counseling and mental health. Learn how to integrate the critical science systems of action into classroom instruction to help students develop the critical thinking skills to find resolutions to the mental health perennial problem. Build an instructional action plan for integrating the critical science approach into counseling and mental health instruction.
