This seminar July 28-31 at Cullowhee will explore the power of student discourse in fostering deep science learning. We will delve into strategies for creating a classroom culture that values and supports meaningful conversations about scientific concepts. Participants will learn how to effectively facilitate discussions, ask probing questions, and guide students to construct explanations, challenge ideas, and develop evidence-based arguments. We will also examine the role of diverse perspectives and collaborative learning in enhancing student discourse and deepening scientific understanding.
This program is open to 5-12 grade science teachers.
