Jennifer Redfearn welcome to NCCAT

CULLOWHEE – Adding to the constant effort of striving to meet North Carolina’s current and future needs in STEM education, The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching has hired Senior STEM Specialist Dr. Jennifer Redfearn to support teachers in incorporating STEM learning into their instruction.

NCCAT, a recognized national leader in professional development programming for teachers, responded to an expressed statewide need for professional development in STEM education.

Dr. Redfearn joined NCCAT in August. She has been an educator with Guilford County Schools for the past ten years, serving as a high school science teacher and central office administrator. She was recently honored with the Distinguished Service in Science Education in North Carolina Award from the North Carolina Science Teachers Association.

Dr. Redfearn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Biology Education, both from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She also holds a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education from Liberty University.

" I am elated to join the faculty at NCCAT because I have learned so much in this space as a seminar participant!" Dr. Redfearn said. "I am a firm believer in developing and supporting the human capital in our schools, and NCCAT seeks to accomplish this task through timely, high-yield professional learning opportunities!"

NCCAT Executive Director Dr. M. Brock Womble welcomed Redfearn to the faculty to build on and expand the past work NCCAT has been doing in STEM.

“We are excited Dr. Redfearn will be sharing her expertise as part of NCCAT, working to support teachers to make sure students receive great instruction in classrooms across North Carolina, and further student success,” Womble said. “She is a valuable addition to our efforts.”
