This distinguished scholarship was established to honor Justice Willis P. Whichard’s lifelong dedication to the State of North Carolina and public education. A retired law school dean and university professor, Justice Whichard also served North Carolina in the State House of Representatives, State Senate, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court. During his service to the NCCAT Board of Trustees and Development Foundation of NCCAT, Inc. Board of Directors, Justice Whichard developed the Honored Educator Scholarship program with a goal to empower North Carolina’s teachers to attend NCCAT programming and positively impact their students.
