Postponement of Programs at Cullowhee Campus

Due to safety concerns about travel and the future forecast for a widespread winter weather event in North Carolina, NCCAT has postponed two programs at the Cullowhee campus:

"Reading Resources: Equipping Your Classroom for Reading Success"
"Data Literacy: Train the Trainer Cohort 2"
NCCAT staff will contact those enrolled about their options.

"The Research and Development Team Program" currently taking place at the Ocracoke campus is continuing as scheduled with participants already on site.

NCCAT Executive Director Receives National Distinguished Service Award

North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Interim Executive Director Dr. Richard L. Thompson was honored, along with two other educators, by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), Friday (Feb. 14), with a Distinguished Service Award. A ceremony to recognize these individuals was held at AASA’s Conference on Education in Nashville, Tenn.

Register for 2014 NCCAT Literacy Festival

Teachers and school administrators looking for a way to make Summer Reading Camp have the same energy as a traditional summer camp can get help at the 2014 North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Literacy Festival.

NCCAT, a national leader in professional development for teachers, is holding a Literacy Festival at the Cullowhee campus March 24–27. The event runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each evening. It is free and open to all area school teachers and administrators.

NCCAT Boards Schedule Spring Meeting

A joint meeting of the board of trustees of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching and the board of directors of the Development Foundation of NCCAT Inc. will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 2 p.m. in Raleigh.

Gregory E. West of Fayetteville, chair of the board of trustees, will convene the meeting. Richard L. Thompson, NCCAT executive director, and staff members will present center news and reports. Richard A. Schwartz of Raleigh, president of the foundation’s board, will provide information pertaining to the Development Foundation of NCCAT Inc.
