NCCAT Solution and Planning Teams Provide Time and Space

Cullowhee, NC

CULLOWHEE (November 24, 2015)—The NCCAT Solution and Planning Teams program offers educators an opportunity to meet in a residential setting devoid of distraction to create and advance departmental, school, or district-wide projects. These projects might consist of new programming, research, planning, or curricula. Early grades literacy or digital learning projects will be given preference. All projects will be considered.

NCCAT Program Builds Active Kids and Active Readers

CULLOWHEE (November 20, 2015)—Sarah Lowell knows if she could have moved more in school she would have learned more.

“I was one of those kids who would have loved school if I had been able to move and learn,” said Lowell, a former physical education Teacher of the Year in North Carolina. “School was torture for me, up until high school, because of not being able to move. Now the research is there that proves kids will retain information better and learn more if moving.”

Morehead City Primary School Teachers Share Digital Tools Learned at NCCAT

CULLOWHEE (November 17, 2015)—Three Morehead City Primary School teachers were already using tools they learned about at NCCAT—even before going back to the classroom. And they plan to keep integrating technology into their Carteret County school.

Lee Taylor, a third-grade teacher; Amanda McCall, a third-grade teacher; and Chantel Williams, a second-grade teacher, all took part in “There's an App for That! Digital Programs Across the Curriculum.”

These projects might consist of new programming, research, planning, or curricula.

This offering was formerly titled “Research and Development Teams” program.

 

NCCAT Hosts Library Media Specialists from Around North Carolina

CULLOWHEE (September 28, 2015)—The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) hosted more than 40 library media specialists (LMS) from across the state in Cullowhee Sept. 22–25. “How Library Media Specialists Can Support Literacy” was designed as a flipped program for library media specialists with pre-and post-program components
