Is your school interested in using the NC Global-Ready Schools Implementation Rubric for school improvement or to receive the NC Global-Ready Schools designation? During this planning institute, schools will review the attributes of the Rubric, consider what each attribute means in the context of their individual school, assess the school’s readiness, draft a strategic plan and develop next steps for school improvement or to apply for the NC Global-Ready Schools designation.

Math, Literacy, STEM, social studies and more professional development available in November with the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. NCCAT helps North Carolina teachers grow in knowledge, skills, compassion, and professionalism so that students become engaged, self-motivated, and successful.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching strives to meet the current and future needs of North Carolina teachers. As a result, a new faculty member will lead math professional learning. Senior Math Specialist, Emily Myers, will support teachers throughout North Carolina.

NCCAT is offering a makerspace session geared towards teachers in school that do not have a dedicated makerspace.  This session titled The Hand-on Maker, is all about using inexpensive and free materials to introduce STEAM approaches to learning, regardless of the subject.

NCCAT Online courses are self-paced modules. Depending on the course, participants can earn 5 or 15 contact hours. There is no charge for NCCAT Online courses.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will convene the regularly scheduled NCCAT Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., in person at the NCCAT Cullowhee campus.

Missy Swain, from Currituck County Schools, was named the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) 2022 Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year. The runner-up is Robert Ballard a teacher with Chapel-Hill Carrboro City Schools.
