Canvas - Time to Design at NCCAT Ocracoke in March
Canvas is a useful tool whether it s for fully online courses or to create modules for a blended teaching approach, but who has the time and support to craft great Canvas resources? This program will give teachers exactly that - the time and support needed to accomplish their Canvas design goals. Teachers will learn best practices for building lessons, assignments, discussions, and modules while being supported in their work.

The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will convene a meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the NCCAT Cullowhee campus, located at 276 NCCAT Drive, Cullowhee, NC, 28723. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss recent legislative matters.
NCCAT Math Badge 1 applications open now
Join NCCAT for Math Badge 1. Badge 1 will focus on core instructional practices. Join us in February and March as we make sense of how the five practices of mathematical discourse and the eight effective teaching practices for mathematics can be integrated into routine practices for Math 1 standards.
Honored Educator Scholarship applications being accepted
Applications for the 2023 NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship are currently being accepted. The application period will close on April 30. Substitute teacher reimbursement and funds for the classroom are included.
Empowering Middle Grades Math Learners this March
Now more than ever, middle grades students need math classroom structures that honor their strengths and create problem-solving mindsets. Let's explore strategies that bring engagement and strengths-based teaching to the middle grades classroom. Sessions for this program will include authentic problem-solving strategies, number sense routines, and vocabulary instructional practices. This program is intended for math teachers in grades 5-8.
NCCAT attends honoring of Chapel Hill High School teacher
Congratulations again to Robert Ballard, the automotive instructor at Chapel Hill High. Mr. Ballard was formally recognized by Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education for his accomplishment as runner-up for the 2022 NCCAT Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award.
