Teachers from across North Carolina took part in the “Teaching the Holocaust: Resources and Reflections” program at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., Nov. 10-15. This program, for educators involved or interested in teaching about the Holocaust, allows teachers to explore exhibits and other resources at the museum under the guidance of experts, utilizing the museum’s contents, presentations, architecture, and technology.

NCCAT Beginning Teacher of the Year Award Finalists Announced
Teachers from across North Carolina have been selected as finalists for the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Beginning Teacher of the Year Award for their dedication, innovation and ability to inspire students to achieve.
One of these talented educators will be named the 2019 NCCAT Beginning Teacher of the Year. The award will be presented for the first time December 5, 2019, at the NCCAT Cullowhee Campus.

NCCAT Hosts Third Fall Curriculum Conference
The North Carolina Center for Advancement of Teaching held the third NCCAT Fall Conference for Curriculum Leaders on September 11-13. Curriculum leaders from across the state joined NCCAT, a recognized national leader in professional development programming.
The agenda, based on conversations with curriculum leaders regarding essential professional development, allowed conference attendees to identify their district’s needs and give feedback concerning future NCCAT programming.

NCCAT Development Foundation establishes Hurricane Dorian Employee Relief Fund
Ocracoke residents and others in surrounding communities are beginning the recovery process from the devastating damage of Hurricane Dorian. The Development Foundation of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Inc., has established the NCCAT Hurricane Dorian Employee Relief Fund to provide much-needed support for NCCAT current and past staff on Ocracoke Island.
