Teachers are in a critical profession and demanding one, especially in the early years. One-third of the teachers in the United States leave the profession after three years and nearly half leave by the fifth year. To quell this loss of talent in North Carolina schools, NCCAT conducts professional development programming designed for our state’s beginning teachers.Beginning teachers who have attended NCCAT programs in their first, second, or third year have a higher retention rate than that of the state or the nation.
