NCCAT celebrates expansion and renovation project with groundbreaking ceremony
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, April 23, 2026, celebrating its Cullowhee Campus expansion and renovation project. Senator Kevin Corbin was in attendance, along with members of NCCAT’s Board of Trustees and the Development Foundation of NCCAT, Inc. Board of Directors.
Wake County teacher named NCCAT 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Beginning Teacher of the Year
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) proudly announces Molly Todd, a special education teacher at Panther Creek High School in Wake County Public Schools, as the NCCAT 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Beginning Teacher of the Year. Pender County Schools teacher named NCCAT 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Beginning Teacher of the Year Runner-up
The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) proudly announces Sophia Foster, a sixth grade ELA teacher at Burgaw Middle School in Pender County Schools, as the runner-up for the NCCAT 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Beginning Teacher of the Year.

NCCAT in the Classroom: Explore the Immersive World of Fluencia
Holly Day, an ESL teacher at East Rowan High School, attended NCCAT's "Gamify Secondary Literacy" program in June.
Following the week of game mechanics, literacy strategies, and adrenaline-driven learning, Holly returned to her classroom, inspired. She used the tools she learned in Cullowhee to form an immersive fantasy world for her students, called Fluencia.
