How do you know students are successfully meeting your desired learning outcomes? This session will focus on the importance of teacher clarity in writing purposeful learning targets. In addition, participants will work with their curricula standards to establish success criteria to help determine if students have achieved content mastery.

Deeper dive into the Science of Reading program with NCCAT

Participants will delve into current Science of Reading research to support learning around the essential components of reading instruction. Our work will include discovering the tenets of structured literacy to ensure all children have access to effective reading instruction. Please join us as we spend quality time looking closely into best instructional practices that support the Science of Reading. This program is intended for classroom teachers in the kindergarten through the fifth-grade classroom.

An Integration of literacy, STEM, and more at Ocracoke

Wonderful group with us for "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: An Integration of literacy, STEM, and more!" in Ocracoke. When 14 year-old William s home in Malawi experienced a terrible drought, his family was left with nothing to eat or sell. Without food or the ability to go to school, William explored his town s library. With perseverance and grit, he came up with an idea that would change the lives of his family and town forever.

Exciting virtual programs available in April with NCCAT. Sign up now for these programs that can be taken anywhere, anytime. The sessions general last around an hour. NCCAT helps North Carolina teachers grow in knowledge, skills, compassion, and professionalism so that students become engaged, self-motivated, and successful. NCCAT works to support teachers and impact students. April programs are: Embracing Math Vocabulary and Meta Cognitive Strategies.

Special Called Virtual Meeting of NCCAT Board of Trustees

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The North Carolina Center of Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Board of Trustees will convene a virtual meeting on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, at 4:00pm.  The Board will meet to discuss the 2021-2022 budget and related matters.  The Board will conduct a closed session for confidential matters.

Participats join NCCAT to work on National Boards

NCCAT is very excited to have teachers joining us starting Friday, February 4th for the National Board Certification program. They will join other initial candidates for a weekend of facilitated support and collaboration as they work on components two-four of your National Board certification submission. Participants are expected to have a draft of at least one component prior to attendance. Best practices for completing components will be shared. Thank you to these teachers for putting in this work!

Martin County teacher receives NCCAT Scholarship

Congratulations to Paige Hart of Rodgers Elementary School in the Martin County Schools NC district on receiving the NCCAT Eugene and Jean Rogers Honored Educator Scholarship. It allows the Martin County Teacher of the Year to attend an NCCAT program of his or her choice. The scholarship covers all costs associated with your participation in an NCCAT program including: instruction; food and lodging on the NCCAT campus; program materials; travel to and from the campus from the teacher’s home and payment for the substitute teacher while they attend NCCAT.
