Twenty-four teachers from across North Carolina have been selected as finalists for the first North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) 2022 Career Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award.
North Carolina 2020 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Teacher of the Year, Maureen Stover, who was also named one of four finalists for National Teacher of the Year, recently presented in the NCCAT program "Dollar Store Science." In this one day seminar, participants learned ways to design lessons on a budget using inexpensive supplies and tools that you can find at your local discount store.
OCRACOKE - North Carolina's 2021 Burroughs Wellcome NC Teachers of the Year joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching for "Teacher Leadership Institute: Teacher of the Year" in Ocracoke July 8-12.
Nicole Rivers is a 15-year veteran educator who has regularly attended professional development courses at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. The 2021 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Sandhills Regional Teacher of the Year does not hesitate when asked what she would tell North Carolina teachers about attending NCCAT.
NCCAT alum Eugenia Floyd, a fourth-grade teacher at Mary Scroggs Elementary School in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district, was named the 2021 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year during an awards luncheon today at the Umstead Hotel in Cary. Floyd was selected from a field of nine finalists representing the state’s eight education districts and charter schools.

OCRACOKE - North Carolina’s 2018-2019 Teachers of the Year joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching for “Teacher Leadership Institute: Teacher of the Year” in Ocracoke July 8-12.
Mariah Morris, a second-grade teacher at West Pine Elementary School in Pinehurst, has been named the 2019 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year. Morris has attended professional development programs at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement, a recognized national leader in professional development for teachers.
OCRACOKE—North Carolina’s 2017–2018 Teachers of the Year joined the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching to examine educational leadership and positive responses to institutional change.
Teachers of the Year discovered how to continue growth as an educational professional. True leadership emerges naturally from the integrity and identity of the leader. Participants were able to explore their integrity and selfhood in a community of other dedicated teachers who are embracing leadership in their own lives.
